Create a local children's book

Explore possible careers with our inspiring children's book project! In collaboration with local charities, we are creating personalized books that follow a child discovering various jobs in their community, featuring real residents and businesses. This project not only raises funds for local charities but also educates and inspires children about the diverse roles in their community. Our first book, set in Sarnia-Lambton, has been a great success! To see an example of our first book and more details on how to get involved, click here: localkidsbook.com. We are excited to bring this initiative to more cities and partner with new charities to continue making a positive impact.

Race To Erase

Teams of four compete in fun-filled challenges, all in support of local charities. The challenges, or stops, are located throughout the community and highlight different local businesses and organizations. They are a combination of savvy and smarts – no goofy shorts required. Each team is asked to raise $500 for the charity of their choosing - with all the proceeds from the event going directly to the charities. Since the first event was held in 2006, Race to Erase has raised over $790,000 in Sarnia, London, and Cambridge.

24-Hour Charity Hockey Game

Working with the Sarnia Sting, #charitable hosted a 24-Hour Charity Hockey Game! Starting on Friday, September 8 at 8 a.m., local teams played at Progressive Auto Sales Arena. To participate, teams were asked to raise $1,000 for a local charity and perform one good deed in the community. Over the course of the day, teams played in one-hour time slots, with pairings based on skill and age level. On Friday night, the Sarnia Sting took to the ice for an intrasquad game to show off the 2023/2024 team.

Partnership with Noelle’s Gift for Children’s Book

Noelle’s Gift and #charitable worked together to create a Sarnia-Lambton children’s book that will follows a local child as they explore different jobs in the community. Encountering real Sarnia-Lambton residents, the child will learn about a variety of different jobs and roles within the community, discovering all the ways they can grow up to be a smash hit!

Books can be purchased at The Book Keeper or can be viewed online here.

Secret Santa

This event supported local businesses and a local charitable organization. Participants gave and received a local present! Secret Santa saw citizens find that perfect gift….for a stranger. Participants donated to Pathways Health Centre for Children and completed their letter to Santa. They then got matched, so they could start shopping. We love working with local organizations to make amazing things happen, and we are grateful for the support offered by Vision Nursing & Rest Home for the Secret Santa event.

Polar Plunge for Empower Play

Citizens took a chilly swim in the name of charity. This peer-to-peer fundraiser supported Empower Play, a locally-based organization that provides financial backing to the youth of Sarnia-Lambton for athletics and arts programs. Get a head start on swimming season by hopping into Lake Huron with your friends, family and co-workers for a great cause!

Family Night Boxes for Noelle's Gift

Families gathered for a fun night of games and great food. Whether they had young kids, grown kids, or no kids, the family night box was a hit! The box included a Mac & Cheese Kit from Personal Touch Eatery & Catering, Cookie Decorating Kits from House Of Cake Baking Co., Popcorn from Kernels Popcorn and a choice of game or puzzle from The Toy Corner. All proceeds from this initiative supported Noelle’s Gift to Children.
